My early teachers who influenced me from 1965-1968 were Ben Rhodes (Kung Fu). Mike Crane (Different types of Karate and tournameent sparring), and Larry Rhinehart (Okinawan Karate). Next I was influenced for over eight years by Daniel K. Pai. When you click on his name you will go to a gallery that will have many pictures of that period of time with the Pailum Association.
During the Kyushu Federation days connected with Taiwan Martial Arts, Mr. Casey made many great connections to Chinese Boxing teachers. Below you can take a brief look at each one. Of course these teachers made a big impression. Most of these teachers I never met. I feel I know a lot about Lo Man Kai even though I never met him.
I met Taki Kumura and of course Master Tao Ping Siang did come and teach me for 15 years on his trips to the US starting in 1990. Liao Wu Chang I met in Taiwan but never studied directly from him. I also met Shen Mou Hui in Taiwan but never studies with him. Casey studied some with numerous others but the ones below formed the core of his Chinese Boxing teachers.
Christopher Casey was my Chinese Boxing teacher and is my teacher for Chinese Boxing realistic fighting. It is a unique art that was the best thing I found for the big picture of fighting. I was Bai shiifued under Mr. Casey and became his longest time student and representative of Kai Sai Chinese Boxing. In the internal I became a indoor student of Master Chen Xiaowang in 2006 in China.
Gaofei Yan started me in the Chen Style back in the early 90's. His teacher Chen Quanzhong came to the Us three times and I was able to study some privately with him. Chen Bing (Chen Xiaowang's nephew I was able to bring over for a number of years to teach seminars in both Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. He had a big impression on me in my studies. The other teachers listed were just teachers I was in one or two seminars with and enjoyed the short time seeing how they did things in Chen Tai Chi. Below you can go to each of their pages and see a little bit about them.
