Chen Quanzhong was the teacher of my first teacher Gaofei Yan. Gaofei brought him over to the states on 4 separate years. I helped Gaofei start the American Chen Tai Chi Association which was based on Chen Quanzhong's art. Chen Quanzhong is one of the historical treasures of China. I met him when he was around 71 Master Chen is nearing 100 years old.

He is 19th generation Chen Family Tai Chi as is Chen Xiaowang. Chen Quanzhong is over 20 years older than Chen Xiaowang and studied with some in the 17th generation. He came to the US on three occasions for about a month each time. The first year he taught a couple of places in Florida. The next time he came we took him on a tour of teaching in Chattanooga, TN, Washington DC, Akron, OH and Kansas City, MO.

Chen Quanzhong was large frame Chen Tai Chi and a lot of his silk reeling movement used a large circle on a vertical plane. This is in contrast to Chen Xiaowang method which stays more on a horizontal place. Chen Quanzhong spoke little English be he had not problem letting you know what he wanted out of you.

He is the great example of how Tai Chi is good for your health.
